Kemba Walker was selected by the Charlotte Bobcats (now Charlotte Hornets) with the ninth overall choice in the 2011 NBA Draft. In Kemba’s first season, the Bobcats had a horrible campaign and finished with a 7-59 record.
During his first five years, Kemba made just minor advancements before exploding in the 2016–2017 NBA Season. His first All-Star team was made. Kemba was the lone shining star on a terrible squad. The 2018–2019 season saw him make his first and only All–NBA squad.

In New York’s Harlem, Kemba Walker attended Rice High School. Kemba had a successful high school career and gained notoriety when he competed at Madison Square Garden against Derrick Rose’s Simeon High School. In his junior year, Rose’s squad was defeated by Kemba’s Rice High School 53-51.
Walker had one more opportunity the next season to convince scouts that he was the genuine deal. Walker averaged 18.2 points and 5.3 assists per game as a senior. He qualified for the McDonald’s All-American Team with these numbers alone. Kemba Walker entered college as a 5-Star Recruit, was ranked No. 5 at his position, and No. 14 overall in the class.
Career in College (UConn)
The celebrity was created at the University of Connecticut. Walker’s step-back buzzer-beating jump shot in the 2011 Big East Tournament that helped the Huskies defeat the Pittsburgh Panthers etched his name in history. But from whence did it all start? Walker participated in every UConn game as a freshman for the Huskies.
The Big East All-Rookie Team selected him. The Huskies earned the top seed in the 2009 NCAA Tournament despite his not being a starter and only playing 25.5 minutes per game. The Huskies beat Missouri in the Elite Eight behind 23 points from Kemba, but they lost to the eventual champions in the Final Four.
Walker was now a regular starter in the 2009–10 season as a sophomore. Although UConn underperformed this year and only advanced to the 2019 National Invitation Tournament, he scored 14.6 points per game throughout the season.
Kemba, though, appeared to be motivated after his poor 18-16 campaign in his sophomore year. Kemba rose to fame as a junior. With 26.7 points per game, he ranked first in the country, and he also averaged 5 rebounds and 3.8 assists. In the 2-11 Big East Tournament, Kemba’s historic game-winning shot against the Pittsburgh Panthers made him a household celebrity.
Kemba Walker won the national championship that year after scoring 16 points to help the Huskies defeat the Butler Bulldogs in the national championship game.

NASCAR Career
Kemba Walker made the decision to forgo his final year at UConn and declare for the 2011 NBA Draft on April 12, 2011. When the Charlotte Bobcats picked him ninth overall that year, he promptly signed an endorsement agreement with Under Armour.
On December 11, 2011, Walker signed a contract with the Bobcats, and soon after he was given the opportunity to play. Walker had the opportunity to start at point guard because starter point guard D.J. Augustin was out due to injury. On January 28, he had his first big game against the Washington Wizards, recording his first triple-double with 20 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds.
With 17.7 points, 5.7 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2 steals per game in 2012–13, Walker showed growth. On November 14, 2012, he assisted the Bobcats in defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves with his first game-winning shot of his NBA career. Walker’s ability as a pure scorer in this league was established on December 9, 2013.
In a victory over the Golden State Warriors, he scored a game-high 31 points, including 27 in the second half. The game’s final 15 points were scored by Walker after taking control.
